More scavenger hunt photos

Roger & I went away for three days and this time I printed out the scavenger hunt list and took it with me.  And got Roger involved in it too!

I found repeat opportunities for some of the photos I have blogged already.  Who can resist a photo of a public toilet that is built inside the tower of the lodge gate of a castle?

#12 A public restroom, bathroom, or toilet

inside this building!

Whilst we were away I also found

#9  A tent

#14  A traffic signal.  The red lights flash when the barrier comes down.

#15 A flag pole with at least 3 flags on it.

#16 A panoramic view, taken while standing someplace high in the air.  This photo cannot count for #20 as well as it is a reservoir not a lake.

#20 A natural body of water.  Roger spotted this large pond as we walked.

On our way home we stopped off in Leominster and saw this:

Alternative A: People eating outside.
I think I shall probably substitute this for #7: A turtle.  We don't have turtles in the UK unless they are in a pet shop or a zoo. I have lots of photos of turtles in Florida but they don't count!

We stopped off at the supermarket as we neared home and I was able to get this photo:

#1.  A bouquet of flowers

Sadly I saw at least 4 of the other items on the list but wasn't in the right place to take the photo.  Never mind!  An opportunity will arise.

Thanks for stopping by.

TMD: Honour week 4

Take Me Deeper is a weekly Bible Study from His Kingdom Come.  Each month we have a theme and the theme for July is Honour.

I wrote the prompts for this month with the aid of the series Rob Davey brought at Jubilee Church and a talk by Becky Webb on what it means to encounter the Kingdom of God like a child.   You can listen to Rob's Talks here.

Last week's theme was Honouring God.  This week we are looking at Honouring Others.

As before I glued the bible pages to the journal page with gesso and sprayed a turquoise Color Bloom spray ink through a map stencil.  Then I scraped modelling paste through a stencil to represent the living water of the Spirit.

Whilst I was thinking of the body being many parts that are joined together it made me think of a jigsaw.  I have a large chipboard jigsaw (yet to be altered) so I drew round the pieces.

I printed out the verse and glued it down.

Scavenger Hunt

I have printed off the Scavenger Hunt list and hope to remember to take it with me when I go out!  There's still time to join in.  You can find the list here.

#3  A person walking a dog

#6  A metal bridge

#12  A public restroom, bathroom, or toilet

The metal bridge is over the canal at Kingswood Junction and we walked a little way from there to the Navigation Inn where we had lunch and I visited this rather tasteful restroom!

I should have taken a photo of us eating lunch outside at the pub as it's one of the alternatives in the list.  Never mind.  There's always next time.

Thanks for stopping by.

TMD: Honour week 3

Take Me Deeper is a weekly Bible Study from His Kingdom Come.  Each month we have a theme and the theme for July is Honour.

I wrote the prompts for this month with the aid of the series Rob Davey brought at Jubilee Church and a talk by Becky Webb on what it means to encounter the Kingdom of God like a child.   You can listen to Rob's Talks here.

Last week's theme was Cultivating Honour.  This week we are looking at Honouring God.

When I was making last week's pages I sprayed ink through a stencil and then cleaned the stencil onto the pages for this week.

I glued the bible pages onto the journal pages with gesso and put gesso on the whole page.  The ink didn't run as much as I thought it would.

I sprayed the pages with the Color Bloom sprays.  I sprayed some water and moved the pages to make the spray ink move.

I used Paperartsy Grunge Paste through a stencil to get the rays.   I printed out the words and coloured the paper with Distress Ink before glueing to the page.

I added some black and white lines and circles.

Thanks for stopping by.

I've started!

Remember this post about Rinda's Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt?

It's been 6 weeks since it started and it's only this week that I've managed to get out and look for things.  Of course I hadn't read the list before we went out - or taken a hard copy with me for that matter.  However I could read the blog post on my phone which helped.   We were visiting Melbourne Hall gardens so I thought I might find the columns.

Mmm.  Not so much.    I found a column of trees that formed an arch.

I found a column of Lime trees and their shadows.

I found three pools with fountains that you could at a pinch describe as a a column of fountains!

Then we moved on to visit the Staunton Harald estate.  And there were a plethora of columns - plus it turned out the instructions said 'architectural columns'.  Although landscape gardeners do talk about 'architectural planting'.  Here's a door with columns.

And round the corner was the front of the building with lots of columns.

And then as we walked down to the lake there were gate columns and their reflection.

Sadly all the lakes we saw were man-made rather than a natural body of water and whilst we paid to get in at a ticket booth I hadn't realised that was on the list.

Still, it's a start.  I can cross off #6 on the list.  Only another 20 to go!

Thanks for stopping by.

TMD: Honour week 2

Take Me Deeper is a weekly Bible Study from His Kingdom Come.  Each month we have a theme and the theme for July is Honour.

I wrote the prompts for this month with the aid of the series Rob Davey brought at Jubilee Church and a talk by Becky Webb on what it means to encounter the Kingdom of God like a child.   You can listen to Rob's Talks here.

Last week's theme was Independence v Dependence.  This week we are looking at Cultivating Honour.

I glued Bible pages to my journal using Gesso and then coated the wole page with gesso.  I used the Color Bloom sprays again to cover the pages.

I stamped some leaves with green Archival ink.

I stamped 2 onto paper and cut them out so I could cover up the ones already stamped so that I could stamp again.

By doing that the leaves you stamp next appear to be behind the ones you first stamped.

Then I did the same using flower stamps and orange Archival ink.

I coloured the flowers using Neocolor 1 crayons which are oil based.  I printed out the verse and glued it down.

Thanks for stopping by.

Take Me Deeper: Honour

Take Me Deeper is a weekly Bible Study from His Kingdom Come.  Each month we have a theme and the theme for July is Honour.

I wrote the prompts for this month with the aid of the series Rob Davey brought at Jubilee Church and a talk by Becky Webb on what it means to encounter the Kingdom of God like a child.   You can listen to Rob's Talks here.

This week's theme is Independence v Dependence

I glued Bible pages to the journal and covered them with gesso.  Then I used some Color Bloom sprays which reacted with the gesso.

I used a vine Thermofax screen to print the white image and then the black.  This screen will be available from the HKC Shop in mid-July.  I scraped the spare paint off the credit card onto my page.

I printed out the words and verses I wanted to use on my computer and then coloured the paper with Distress Inks.

I cut up the words and verses and stuck them to my pages.   I drew round the paper with a black pen and a white pen.

Thanks for stopping by.

And the next most visited one was Playing - which is about a Dyan Reaveley technique!
This is the same technique in an altered book

I have loved blogging my craft journey and I hope you have enjoyed it too.

So by way of a celebration let's have a giveaway.  Leave a comment below and include whether you are from the UK or International and I will choose 2 names at random and send the two prizewinners (one UK & one International) some Happy Mail.

If you've never received Happy Mail - it's an envelope full of crafting goodies - papers, embellishments - anything really that's useful for scrapbooking or mixed media of any kind.

Leave your comment by Saturday 4th July and I will pick the winners at noon UK time.

And lastly a big thank you to all who have followed me over the years and to those who have left me lovely comments.
