Election Day 2010

I don't know where the last month has gone.   I can't believe I haven't blogged for all that time.  In my defence I've been finishing lots of projects and going out to work!!   Oh and I helped organise a surprise 40th birthday party for Wendy

I recently bought a Tim Holtz tattered flowers die for my Cuttlebug and then had a play with some grungepaper, embossing and paint.   Here's the result.

And here it is in use on a layout about Vicky

So here we are, on an important day of the year, when we decide who will govern the country for the next 4 or 5 years, or perhaps only until another election in October.   This is the first time since I could vote that I am undecided.  It looks like I will be making up my mind when I get into the polling booth and I have the pencil in my hand.   Should I base my vote on the local candidate ~ sadly all 3 main party candidates look like clones of each other ~ or should I vote based on the three party leaders?  I could of course choose based on party policies but experience tells me that no matter what they promise, once the party is in power ~ it has no power.  Decisions have to be made based on what the EU or the IMF says.

Although during the election run up we have had a forest full of paper stuffed through the letterbox telling us about the candidates, I haven't seen one in the flesh.  We're voting for a new councillor today and I haven't seen one of those either.

So, what to do?  What to do?     I definitely want to exercise my democratic right to vote.  If only there was a place on the voting paper to put my cross next to the box that says 'None of the above'.

  1. I'm also still wavering on my decision but like you I will be ok once I'm in the booth!!!

  2. If you feel strongly about none of the above you can write that on your paper and have it counted as a spoiled paper. You will have exercised your right in a thoughtful manner at least and not be counted as apathetic.

I went for policies in the end, although I also went for one of the two parties who has actually been to visit our ward.

  3. Your flower looks great. Was unsure as well but did make a decision in the end.

  4. Hi Bernice... hope you made a decision in the end... hey, are there special plates needed to use the Tim Holtz dies in your cuttlebug? I have been wondering before I ventured forth and bought some.
