Flower of the Month: Daffodils

Today, on 12 Months in View, Susan Ernst shared her knowledge of plants and in particular the daffodil and then took us through a step by step tutorial to produce a journal page.

People who know me well know that I never end up with what the tutor says, so it will come as no surprise that my page and technique isn't quite the same as Susan's.

I found the Robert Herrick poem and printed it out.  I tore round the poem and stuck it in my journal.  I wish I had used gel medium rather than glue stick!

I followed Susan's instructions regarding the acrylic wash and the tracing of my image.  Then I coloured it in with Inktense pencils and used a paintbrush and water rather than a waterbrush.  I used a black chinamarker type pencil to go over the pencil lines  and swiped a lemon Distress Inkpad over the page.  I stamped the word onto the page.

I am really pleased with the result.  It isn't a style I would normally use but I really enjoyed it.  Thanks Susan.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Great job. Daff's are so happy and are so short-lived. I think that makes them extra special.
