O is for Openness

If you want to join in with making an A to Z of Me Journal through the month of February click through to the Challenge blog.

Here on this blog I am going to share how I made the page for today's prompt on Openness.

There are a lot of photos today.  I had such a lovely time playing with the shaving foam.  I used an old baking tray that was bigger than my journal.  I squirted the foam and added the Distress Re-Inkers.

I swirled the paint round with a plastic knife.  You actually don't need as much foam as this.

Here's the tray with a piece of sketchbook paper pressed into the foam.

And here's what it looks like when you pull it out of the tray.

I used my glass plate (but you could use your craft mat) to put the paper on and then I used a metal ruler to take off the foam and got this result.

I cleaned up and started again with a new squirting of foam and added Dylusions inks.

This was the first print.

I added some colour to the foam and took a second print on the same card.

I added some more colour and dipped some photographic paper and it worked just as well.

I put my journal onto the foam and took a print.  If you want to be sure that you don't get the foam on other pages of your journal then I suggest you wrap up all the rest of the journal apart from the page you are using with clingfilm.

I used a stencil to draw the circle and stamped the word with Plum Archival Ink.  I inked the edges of the verse and the quote with Distress Ink and stuck them down.

Using a paintbrush I painted the O shaped with Dylusions ink.

Then I wrote my journal as a spiral inside the circle.

I hope you have as much fun with the shaving foam as I did.

See you tomorrow
Bernice

  1. Wow Bernice, so many options open to me now. Dylusion inks, thanks for that one and it will probably work on my original tag too. And the cling film wrap is a great tip aswell. I have been wrapping my journals in the wax paper backing from book coverings - DS's school books - but will note the cling film option too. Your page is super, love how you have journaled in the circle. I have just written some stuff on the back of my nature tag round the edge and maybe I'll fill it all up in time. In fact, maybe I'll journal stuff on ALL pages in time but sticking to the technique and scripture as my template for now. Thanks for this challenge and the last one and the next one, they are fantastic and really get me having a go at new things.
